This dog shirt runs small and long. I had to cut it in half but it still wouldn’t fit around the belly and chest area very well (pic 3). If my dog didn’t move it looked fine so for pictures it worked but it bunched up and the velcro wouldn’t stay together as he moved around. My little guy is a Jack Russell/Blue Heeler mix and is 21lbs (or so) and since recovering from being attacked by a wild pig recently he’s gotten a little thicker in the middle so I thought a large would have worked. I figured I would have had to take it in a bit but this shirt runs so small that for a med/small dog I needed an x-large but I still would have had to cut it shorter. We live in Hawaii and this would have worked for his birthday but instead he just wore the lei that came with it and a shell necklace – but the pics turned out nice.

Looks great on my big pom. It is really long to the point where it almost covers her tail, but we just used a safety pin to shorten it. Also the pattern was slightly different than the picture above. I ordered a large for my 22lb dog.

I had brought an 3x for my photo shoot. It was perfect for a great dane breed but it was way too big for a gray hound, pit mix, husky mix. I had to tuck the end of the shirt and tie it just so it looked like it fit the dog well.

We bought the largest size for a Labrador retriever weighing 110 pounds. The chest barely fit while the length went well beyond his backside. Need to either hem it up or tie it in a knot for a crop top look.

It is difficult to find an shirt or costume for a large chested dog. That being said this Hawiian shirt fit our 75 lb. Greyhound with no problem. The entire family, including our two Greyhounds and our cat dressed up like we were on a vacation in Hawaii for Halloween. Thanks to everything that I was able to find here on Amazon, we were a big hit. All of the items that I purchased were very reasonably priced so my wallet didn’t take a big hit. ;0)

It looked so cute on him. Only problem… I had to alter the velcro on his belly, it was a lil to close to his “business”.

i chose this item because i believed Rubie’s Costume knew how to dress a dog, and i liked the pattern and colors of the fabric. (i received a shirt with a different pattern and colors – a VERY annoying habit of amazon.)i got the size to fit her measurements according to the given size chart. i knew i’d likely have to make some adjustments though as she’s a breed with an extra large chest. i knew it would likely be too long, but better it should be long than not reach around her chest. (boy was it ever long! it hung down her back, over her behind, and flapped around her back legs.)the chief problem, what made it unwearable, is because of something i’d never considered. (i’m new to buying clothes for a dog.) the “top button” part of the collar is designed to be open, like a human wears a casual shirt. this works for a human because shoulders hold the shirt up from falling down the body when you move. dogs are built differently. when she tried to move, the shirt slipped and shifted and there was no way to secure it. i rearranged it many times, but the collar falls wide, the shirt slips back too far on her body, and sleeves fell so low on her front legs that she instantly tripped and front legs either get caught in the sleeve or come out of the shirt.the neck needs to close securely to stabilize the shirt forward on the body. there is no closure present there and the design does not facilitate easily adding one. it would have had to be remade, with significant alterations to be a wearable item for a dog.i learned this too late and was unable to return within the window.for a dog owner who’d like a button up style dog shirt, i recommend looking for one that will close securely much higher on the neck. that will go a long way to allowing the rest of the shirt to remain in place as the dog moves. the open chest look doesn’t work on a dog. this shirt is only good for posing.

I have a 75-pound English Lab, I bought the XL. The shirt comes with a “tail” kind of like a tuxedo back which I thought was weird, because although my lab is heavy, he’s Pretty short. I imagine the tail would fit a large dog Better, like a Great Dane… I just ended up cutting the tail off and sewing the back into a straight line. Around the chest is a little tight, but luckily it fits him just right.
